(5) Погубили себя; они не дети Его из-за порочности их; род строптивый и развращенный. (6) Г-споду ли воздаете сие, народ недостойный и неразумный? не Он ли отец твой, обретший тебя? Он же создал тебя и упрочил тебя!
Второй день
(7) Вспомни дни древности, помысли о годах всех поколений; спроси отца твоего, и он расскажет тебе, старцев твоих, и они скажут тебе. (8) Когда Всевышний давал уделы народам, когда расселял сынов человеческих, поставил Он пределы народам по числу сынов Исраэйля. (9) Ибо доля Г-спода – народ Его; Яаков – наследственный удел Его. (10) Он нашел его в земле пустынной; в пустоте и вое пустыни; ограждал Он его, опекал его, берег его, как зеницу ока Своего. Третий день
(13) Вознес Он его на высоты земли, и ел тот плоды полей; и питал его медом из скалы и елеем из кремнистого утеса, (14) Маслом коровьим и млеком овечьим, и туком агнцев и овнов Башанских, и козлов, и самою тучною пшеницею, и кровь виноградин пил ты, шипучую. (16) Богами чуждыми они досаждали Ему, и мерзостями разгневали Его. (17) Жертвы приносят бесам, не Б-гу, божествам, которых они не знали, новым, недавно явившимся, не страшились их отцы ваши. (18) Создателя, сотворившего тебя, ты забыл, и забыл Б-га, тебя создавшего.
Четвертый день
(19) И увидел Г-сподь, и вознегодовал, оттого что разгневали Его сыновья Его и дочери Его. (20) И сказал: скрою лицо Мое от них, увижу, каков будет конец их; ибо они род развращенный, сыны, в которых нет верности. (21) Они досаждали Мне небогом, гневили Меня суетами своими: и Я досажу им ненародом, народом-извергом гневить их буду. (22) Ибо возгорелся пламень гнева Моего, жжет до глубины преисподней и пожирает он землю и плоды ее, и опаляет основания гор. (23) Нашлю Я множество бедствий на них, стрелы Мои истощу на них. (24) Истощены будут голодом, истреблены горячкою и мором лютым; и зуб звериный нашлю Я на них, и яд ползучих гадов. (25) Извне будет губить меч, а в домах – ужас: и юношу и девицу, грудного младенца и поседевшего старца. (26) Я сказал бы: "положу им конец, сотру в среде людей память о них", (27) Если бы не остерегался Я злобы врага, чтобы враги его не возомнили и не сказали: "наша рука одолела, а не Г-сподь сделал все это". (28) Ибо это народ, потерявший рассудок, и нет у него разума.
Пятый день
(29) Будь умны они, рассудили бы об этом; они бы поняли, что с ними будет. (30) Как мог бы один преследовать тысячу и двое прогонять десять тысяч, если б не предал тех заступник их и не предал бы тех Г-сподь? (31) Ибо не таков же, как Покровитель наш, их покровитель; даже враги наши судьи в том! (34) Ведь сокрыто это у Меня, запечатано в хранилищах Моих – (35) У Меня отмщение и воздаяние, когда споткнется нога их; ибо близок день гибели их, и скоро наступит уготованное им. (36) Ибо судиться будет Г-сподь за народ Свой и раскается Он (в решении) о рабах своих, когда Он увидит, что ослабела рука их и нет ни заключенного, ни вольного. (37) И скажет Он: где Б-ги их, твердыня, на которую они полагались, (38) Которые ели тук жертв их, пили вино возлияний их? Пусть встанут они и помогут вам, пусть будут для вас покровом!
