22. Destroyalldreamers - Orage
On an album filled with exquisitely-textured instrumental shoegaze tracks, how does “Orage” stand out? Oddly enough, it's through a keen attention to melody that the track leaps ahead of its peers on A Coeur Leger Sommeil Sanglant. Though the dense, star-gazing atmosphere is still essential to the track's success, “Orage” thrives on the addictive melody aggressively mixed to the forefront of the track. And, despite Destroyalldreamers' near-deafening volumes, the melody shines through the sonic haze and towering walls of sound like The Little Engine That Could. Call it pop-ambient or must-gaze if you will, just give it a few listens. If the overt portions of the track don't win you over, its subtle, underlying machinations certainly will. (Zach Mills)
