- Robin Hood 1.2
He took many Frenchmen or Normans with him. These Normans were all poor but very proud. They came with William to help him fight. He promised to give them money and lands.
So Duke William stole lands, houses and money from the Saxon nobles and gave them to the Normans. The Saxon nobles became the servants of the proud Normans. So, there were two races in England. Each spoke their own language. Each hated the other.
- Students Save Town
Students usually love it when school is cancelled. Whether it’s for a holiday or some other reason, a day off school means fun! But in one small American city, students got out of school for a special reason—to save their town!
North Dakota is a state in the northern part of the USA. Fargo is the biggest city in North Dakota. It gets a lot of
snow in the winter. When spring comes, all that snow melts and fills the rivers and lakes. If this melting happens too fast, the rivers can flood. The Red River runs through Fargo. The area around the city is very low and flat. This makes the river move very slowly. It floods every year in the spring. In 2009, the flood was the worst in history.
The river was over twelve meters higher than usual!
As the Red River rose higher, people became very afraid. That much water would cause huge problems in the city. The only way to stop this was to build a wall along the river. People made this wall by using bags filled with sand.
Scientists warned that Fargo would need over 1 million sandbags in order to stop the water. City workers and
other people from Fargo rushed to make enough sandbags. They worked for many days and nights. But they couldn’t do it alone, and they were running out of time.
City leaders asked for help. So the schools allowed students to take time off from class. They had to ask their parents if it was all right. Over one thousand students joined the sandbag effort. They worked three to four hours each day for two weeks. Thanks to their hard work, Fargo met the goal of 1 million sandbags. They built the wall in time to stop the water. The students helped to save their town!

If you ask me, I think fashion is kind of unnatural.
I mean who cares about tiny details like pockets here pockets there.
I bealive clothes should serve their purpose.
When it's hot, they shouldn't be too warm and when itt's cold they should keep you warm and protect you from winds when it;s necessary.
I' never buy a coas or a jacket just because they're said to be fasinable now- to buy an item of clothing I must feel comfortable in it.

Books are much more fun than films. I know most film directors want to make a
film out of some classical book but so often the film versions don’t turn out well.
At least to my taste. When you watch a film you are forced to believe what you see
and when you read a book, you can imagine the characters and have your own
personal experience with the plot. Watching a film just doesn’t trigger your
imagination the way reading does.

I can’t remember the last time I was at the movies. I think it was the day I broke
my arm. Crazy as it may be, I broke my arm going to see a new film. My girlfriend
had asked me to go to the cinema with her, so I bought the tickets for Friday night.
We were meeting inside the Star Cinema. It’d been raining hard and the pavement
was very wet. I was five minutes late for my date, so I hurried up the stairs and
slipped. The last thing I remembered was the terrible pain in my arm

I never miss a new film. I have a notification sent from the local cinema to inform
me about any change in their shows. They change the schedule once every two
weeks, so I go to the cinema every other week. Our local cinema is rather small, so
they show two or three films at a time. Sometimes I watch a film every day for
three days in a row to see all that’s new in the market. It does get expensive
sometimes, but it’s worth it, the way I see it.

Hello, I'm Amber, in London Life today, we find out what the traditional British breakfast is made of, and why it is becoming more and more popular, especially in London. Let's listen to three people.
Speaker 1: It's a meal that everyone outside of England has heard of, and dreams about, and we don't know what it is, but when we come here, we want to eat it. I got here, and I went to a cafe and there was the bacon, eggs and fried potatoes, and I thought — is this all there is?!
Speaker 2: I think it's very important to start a day. If I've got a long day at work, I try and eat egg and bacon in the morning because it's protein it keeps you going all day. Now in London, there're lots more people having business meetings in top restaurants and it's getting very fashionable to have breakfast.
Speaker 3: I would say the cafe experience is very important, you know, it's less than 50 % the food, as it is. In a good cafe, they're not going to hurry you out. There are the smells, there are the sounds - you are just listening to the world go by.
